The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the flagship of Pebble Beach Automotive Week. Begun in 1950 and now considered to be the world’s premier celebration of the automobile, this is the ultimate event for every car enthusiast.
Each year, the finest collector cars gather on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links to compete to be named Best of Show — the ultimate award for automobiles. Experts critique their elegance, technical merit, and history. And crowds come from all corners of the globe to cheer their favorites. In tandem with the competition between extraordinary historic automobiles, the Concours also serves as host to some of the most anticipated concepts and new car debuts.
This Duesenberg (J-465 on chassis 2509) was shipped without coachwork to European distributor E.Z. Sadovich’s Motors Deluxe of Paris, and there famed coachbuilder Joseph Figoni fitted it with a unique Sports Torpedo complete with a hood extended back to a low vee’d windshield and a tapered tail. Sadovich drove the car in the 1932 Paris-Nice Rallye before delivery to its first owner.
Sunday, August 20, 2023 for the 72nd Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
The Tour begins in Pebble Beach, traces 17-Mile Drive, Highway One to Big Sur, and then returns to Pebble Beach to cross the Finish line. A car that successfully completes the Tour gets the nod if it later ties in class competition at the Concours.
This is a great opportunity to get a first glimpse of the beautiful cars that will grace the show field on Concours Sunday as the public is invited to view the Tour, without fee, at several points.
